March 26th is Air Max Day. A day that celebrates the cultural phenomenon that is Air Max. Air Max is more than a shoe. It is sport, lifestyle, and technology all rolled into one. Nike approached us with a challenge to make Air Max Day 2018 a celebration of how “Air Moves You." To answer this challenge we created “The House of AiR” An experience that immerses the visitor in the past, present and future of AIR through AR. A gallery experience where all of the interactions are unlocked through augmented reality on the Nike SNKRS app.
We wanted to welcome guests into The House of AiR with a unique look at all of the pivotal moments in Air Max history. We built jars with nothing but air inside and an AR trigger on the front. Users could launch an interactive AR experience that shows the unique features of each groundbreaking shoe including notes from the designers on how it was created.
The infusion of lifestyle and personalization into Air Max culture has become a mainstay. It is your shoe, where it how you want. Self Expression at it’s finest. We wanted to showcase that by tapping local artists in LA, Chicago, and NYC to create the first ever ARt walk. Influenced by the sneakers and their city they created a gallery where the art can only be seen through AR.
Air Max has always been on the cutting edge of sneaker tech. Always innovating on how we perform and how we look. So we wanted to continue innovating. For the launch of the VaporMax we created the first ever shoppable AR experience. Using a fully immersive pedestal with lights, smoke machines, and fans, visitors were able to unlock and purchase the exclusive VaporMax.
